PLACE de CONCORDE

If you have just left the Louvre, it is a pleasant walk to the Place de Concorde, heading west. Photo 1 shows the Louvre behind you (looking back towards the east). Next is the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, which is similar to the more famous Arc de Triomphe, but much smaller. The middle photo is the jardin du Carrousel. Photos 4, 5 are of the Tuleries. The last photo shows the Place de Condorde in the distance with the Milleneum Wheel (no longer there, so don't bother looking for this large Ferris wheel).

The Place de Concorde (Peace Square) was formerly where many prisoners were guillotined, Marie Antoinete among them. It was given a nice name to help heal the past wounds. Photo 1 shows Petite Palais in the background. The obelisk, which is 3000 years old, was a present from Egypt. The building in the background of photo 3 is the Petite Palais. The sunset picture shows a lamp post at Place de Concorde, the Eiffel Tower, and the obelisk at the Place de Concorde.
